The initiative of the MAPs-Net Nepal database is an outcome of efforts to develop a compendium of information on medicinal plants of the Nepal. This database is an exhaustive summary of available scientific data for 36 species of medicinal plants in Nepal, providing detailed information on the locations, utilization of each plant by different ethnic groups, describing both traditional therapeutic applications, trade and their conservation status, management strategies. Additional material presented includes brief botanical description of each plant with graphic representations of certain plants for identification, the common names used for the plants in the various localities by different ethnic group, the ecological distribution, market information, pharmaceutical products, cultivation practices and conservation measures. The information are compiled in the sub-categories of Taxonomy, Ecology, Use & trade, and Conservation & Management. |
