Description:

A robust perennial herb;  basal leaves ovate, blade 10-20 x 7-10 cm. Inflorescence panicle, spiciform, spikes 25-60 cm long. Flowers greenish, turning to reddish or purple red. Fruit ovoid or broadly ovoid with large rounded blades. Nutlets ovoid, with narrow wings1,31.
