How to use the on-line version of MAPs-Net Nepal

User can search information in the MAPs-net database through MAPs-Net Nepal
Search option. Following steps are recommended here.
Step - 1 Enter the plant name (Latin name or local name), family, genus
or any other text in the search box provided and click the 'search' button. If
typed parameter is found in the database, user will get a list of the plant
Step - 2 In each section,
several collapsible heading will be displayed. You can select the required
details by clicking the corresponding sections and headings in each section. The
headings in each section can be collapsed or expanded by clicking the
corresponding heading or clicking + or x button at upper part of the displayed
Advance user can use the link option (PLANT) shown at left side-bar. For this,
user must have sound knowledge on the classification system of the plant
kingdom. The system follows
Arthur Cronquist (1919-1992) classification as in An
Integrated System of Classification of Flowering Plants (1981).
Step íŽ1 Click the link (PLANT), new menu will be displayed showing
Flowering plants and Non-flowering plants. Now the user has two options, and can
be proceed from one link; on clicking the Non-flowering plants: Algae, Fungi,
Lichens, Bryophytes and Pteridophytes will display and clicking on flowering
plants lead to Angiosperms and Gymnosperms, which further lead to the plant
Note: In the present version of the database, plants in the Algae, Lichens,
Bryophytes and Pteridophytes have not been incorporated, therefore the users
will encounter dead ends with these links. The detailed classification and MAP
species in these categories will be incorporated in near future with the
extension of the database project. However, one species in each group of Fungi
and Gymnosperms has been incorporated in the present database.
A or B option will lead to the particular MAP species. Each MAP species profile
has five link options viz. Taxonomy, Ecology, Uses, Conservation & Management,
and References & Remarks.
Step - 2 In each section, several collapsible heading will be displayed.
You can select the required details by clicking the corresponding sections and
headings in each section. The headings in each section can be collapsed or
expanded by clicking the corresponding heading or clicking + or x button at
upper part of the displayed page.
Digital images, Maps and Charts are presented in the form of thumbnail; by
clicking in the corresponding thumbnail, these images can be enlarged.
At the bottom of each page, there is feedback option. The user can send their
feedback, comments, new information or errors in the database using this option
to ESON. Suggestions for improvement of the database are always welcome.
