Forests, shrubberies and open places of mid-hills of Nepal.

 

Description:

A robust branched evergreen shrub, 2-3 m tall, branches glabrous. Leaves alternate, ovate to lanceolate, 4-13 x 2.5-5 cm, apex acute, base cuneate; smooth above, dotted with the bases of bristles beneath, margins bristly-toothed; lateral veins 2-4 pairs. Flowers small, fragrant, short-stalked, corolla white to greenish white or pink, barrel-shaped, constricted towards apex, in axillary racemes. Flower clusters 2.5-8 cm long, shorter than the leaves, 10-30-flowered. Capsules 5-8 x 3-5 mm, dark violet-blue, surrounded by enlarged fleshy calyx31,34.
